Horseheads: Sharon May Standish, age 76, of Horseheads, NY passed away on Wednesday January 14, 2026 at Hickory Knoll North, Elcor Nursing Home. Honoring her wishes will be no calling hours or public service. Sharon was born May 8, 1949 in Elmira, N.Y., the daughter of the late Gordon A. and Virginia May (Sawdey) Standish. She graduated from Watkins Glen High school in 1967, and went on to graduate from Corning Community College, with an Associate’s Degree in Business. Having worked various jobs over the years, she was happiest as a secretary in the Athletic Department of Cornell University, in Ithaca, until her retirement in 2005. She is survived by her brother Gordon L. (Rhonda) Standish of Reading Center; a nephew Michael (Dena) Standish of Millport, NY; a niece Wendy (William) Taylor also of Reading Center; and several great niece & nephews. Mary Elizabeth “Mary Beth” Fazzary, 63, of Watkins Glen, NY, passed away after a long illness, on Christmas Day, December 25, 2025 surrounded by her loving family. Mary Beth was born in Montour Falls, NY on May 8, 1962, the daughter of Sam and Doris (Hayes) Fazzary. Mary Beth graduated from Watkins Glen High School in 1981 and attended Tompkins Cortland Community College. She found great joy in babysitting her nieces and nephew and worked as a nurse’s aide and home health aide in various times of her life. She was a communicant of St. Mary’s of the Lake Church in Watkins Glen. Mary Beth enjoyed playing the piano and keyboards. She spent many hours listening to music, and playing computer games. She especially loved spending time connecting with all of her family and friends. She is survived by her parents, Sam and Doris Fazzary; brother, Anthony (Kimberly) Fazzary; sister, Margaret Fazzary (Patrick); nieces and nephews, Kathleen, Sarah and Benjamin (Godson) Swinnerton; step nephews, Christopher (Dana), Ryan and Matthew (Fallyn) Daudelin. She is also survived by uncle, James (Marie) Fazzary, and aunts, Helen (Hayes) Brodock, Reda (Henry) Fazzary, and Ruth Hayes; and by many cousins and friends. Mary Beth was predeceased by her grandparents, Charlotte (Stamp) and Alpheus Hayes, and Maria and Antonio Fazzari; and by many aunts, uncles and cousins. The Fazzary family would like to extend their thanks to the many people who were kind and caring to Mary Beth throughout her illness over the past few years. We’d like to give special thanks to Jenny, her most recent caregiver, who has been a friend since Mary Beth babysat Jenny as a child. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Saturday, January 10, 2026 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at St. Mary’s of the Lake Church, 905 N. Decatur St., Watkins Glen, NY. Age 82, of Tyrone, passed away in the peace of her home on December 25, 2025 surrounded by her loving family. Born on May 20, 1943, in Portsmouth, NH, Judy was the cherished adopted daughter of the late Edward and Grace Crotty. She met her future husband, Harold Gordon Shafer Jr. while spending summers on Lamoka Lake. They were married in 1963; their love forming for a loving family. Together, Judy and Gordie raised two beloved daughters, Debbie (Jeff) Cupps of Pasadena, MD, and Beth (Thom) Woods of Lamoka Lake, NY. They are proud grandparents to three grandchildren, David, Jonathan, and Leah, and great-grandparents to three great-grandchildren, James, Eleanor, and Ava Marie Grace. Each of them carries a piece of Judy's vibrant spirit and warmth. Judy dedicated herself wholeheartedly to her family while also serving as a Pastoral Assistant at St. Mary’s of the Lake Church in Watkins Glen for many years. Her compassion extended beyond her family. She was actively involved in her community through the Stephen Ministry and as a devoted 4H Leader, where she inspired countless young people. Judy spent her days cooking, canning, reading, gardening, and enjoying the beauty of nature first in Elmira, later on the homestead in Altay and finally on Lamoka Lake. She embraced each moment with grace and gratitude, leaving a legacy of love and kindness to all who knew her. A time for remembrance and celebration of Judy's life took place at the Royce-Chedzoy Funeral Home, 212 E. 4th St., Watkins Glen, on Friday, January 2nd, from 4 PM to 6 PM. A Funeral Mass honoring her life was celebrated at St. Mary’s of the Lake Church, 905 N. Decatur St., Watkins Glen, NY, on Saturday, January 3rd, at 11:00 AM, followed by her burial at Tyrone Union Cemetery. Memorial donations in her memory may be made to her church. Joyce (Skinner Lodge) DeVay, Age 80, of Odessa, passed away December 18, 2025. Joyce was born in Montour Falls on September 22, 1945, the daughter of John and Catherine (Lutomske) Skinner. She worked as a Teacher’s Aide at Watkins Glen Central School for many years. She also previously worked for the Miller Ford Company and Learn Motor Company in Watkins Glen. Joyce was predeceased her parents; and her husbands, Robert Lodge and Charles DeVay. She was also predeceased by her brother and sister, Richard and Carol Skinner; and brother-in-law, Zane Unterzuber. She is survived by her son Paul (Cathy) Lodge of Reading Center; sister Sandra Unterzuber of Arizona; and sister-in-law Fran Skinner of Florida; two grandsons Dakota and Justin Lodge; and three nephews, Greg (Joanne), Mike, and Doug (Lisa) Reynolds. A graveside service will be held at Glenwood Cemetery in Watkins Glen in the spring and will be announced. Carol Ann “Carolla” Devlin-Urbaniak-Grover 10/24/1956 ~ 11/26/2025 Carol passed away at her home in Odessa, NY with loving family & all of her animals whom she loved unconditionally. Born & Raised in and around New Bedford Massachusetts Long-Time resident of Schuyler County New York She is pre-deceased by her loving parents Irene Pritchard, Jimmy Devlin & adoptive father “Stevie” Urbaniak. She is pre-deceased by brother Wayne Urbaniak & survived by brother Steven Devlin. She is survived by daughter Jennifer Hetherington, sons David “DJ” Belloma, Steven Belloma, Chad Wilcox & Richard Wilcox & her loving son-in law Larry Hetherington. Carol is survived by many beautiful & loving grandchildren & great-grandchildren. Cassie Secord-Suitter was her first grand~child, “partner in crime” and she loved her dearly. Carol had a huge heart & special love for her Aunts, Uncles & Cousins in Massachusetts including ( but not limited to): the late Robert Silva & survived by his loving wife Aunt Cleone Affonce Silva, the late Uncle Joseph Correia & survived by his loving wife Auntie Margaret Correia & the late Uncle Raymond & Karin Silva. Each and every cousin, second cousin and bonus cousins all meant the world to her and she missed them all deeply. Carol was a proud life-time member of The V.F.W. Post 2674 in Watkins Glen NY, where she earned the nickname “Carolla”. She served in every capacity eventually to become the President of the Ladies Auxiliary & Canteen Manager. Her service to our USA Military Veterans & their families spanned 30 years with countless volunteer hours serving Veterans & their families. Karla J. Nichols, Age 63, of Watkins Glen, passed away unexpectedly on November 26, 2025 at home. Karla was born in Montour Falls on April 20, 1962, the daughter of Richard and Jennie Raplee. Karla was a devoted and compassionate Licensed Practical Nurse, who touched the lives of many throughout her career. With a heart dedicated to caring for others, she retired from Guthrie Corning Hospital. Her dedication also extended to Schuyler Hospital and Seneca View Skilled Nursing Facility, and The Falls Home in Montour Falls, as well as Absolut-Care Three Rivers Nursing Home in Painted Post, and Ira Davenport Memorial Hospital in Bath. Karla was predeceased by her parents, her husband Lynn D. Nichols, and her sisters, Rita June Tucker, Geanna Mae Raplee, and Roxanne Perry. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Lindsay and Tim Crisco, and granddaughters, Karleigh and Lilianna, all of Corning. She also leaves behind her dear siblings, Pamela Perry (Daniel), Lisa Bishop, Mike (Lisa) Raplee, and Brian Raplee (Brenda), all of Watkins Glen. Karla found immense joy in her granddaughters and her dog Ollie, and she cherished every moment spent with her family and friends. She had a love for small talk, nursing, card games, and dominos. Her creative side blossomed through jewelry making and cooking, and she relished the simple pleasures of country living—whether it was sitting on the porch, laughing over fresh coffee, indulging in shopping, or taking the time to look her best. A celebration of Karla's life will be held at Royce-Chedzoy Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 3rd, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM. She will be buried with her parents and family at Lake View Cemetery in Watkins Glen. Memorial donations in Karla's memory may be made to Meals on Wheels Program, c/o Office for the Aging, 323 Owego Street, Unit 7, Montour Falls, NY 14865.
